Local Studies

Local Studies is a big selling, introduction to computer mapping and GIS (Geographical Information System) for Key Stage 2.

Start off simply - click and drag the pre drawn pictogram or symbolic keys to build up a map of your local area. The whole project can be expanded by placing hotspots on the map and attach writing, pictures and videos to these hotspots.

For more advanced mapping, the Ordnance Survey has the whole of the British Isles held as digital data so that your local area can be used as background maps in Local Studies.

The main Local Studies program has enough built in features to enable students to build up comprehensive projects, based around maps. There are also Local Studies Extras which extend the program even further.
